Hoping for a park of their own
Unable to make up its mind between sunny skies and dark clouds, the weather only put a slight damper on the Clinton County Skate Park Assocation’s fundraiser Saturday at the J.W. Denver Williams Jr. Memorial Park. The fundraiser featured ramps for skaters, live bands, wrestling matches and a kickball tournament called Kickball 4 Concrete. The CCSA is raising money to build an 18,400-square-foot skate park. The planned park will be located by the big metal caterpillar and the old bathrooms, which will be torn down. New bathrooms will be built by the shelterhouses at the city park. The completed project will cost $500,000, but they plan to start soon on the design process and could actually complete Phase I for $350,000. To donate, money can be given to National Bank & Trust under the Clinton County Skatepark Association Inc. Endowment Fund or in the name of Sgt. Steven Daniel Conover, the late son of Wilmington residents Lorraine and Mike Earley. | ||||
