The Clinton County YMCA was packed March 13 as friends, family and competitors gathered for the 2010 Shamrock Slamdown benefit fundraiser, sponsored by the CCSA, Clinton County Youth Council and the Clinton County YMCA.

A changing of the guard took place as two-time defending champions American Gladiators were dethroned by the Pink Superstars for the 2010 Shamrock Slamdown Dodgeball Championship.

*Final placings:

1st: Pink Superstars
2nd: American Gladiators
3rd: Energize Clinton County

For the first time in ShamSlam history, a 3 on 3 basketball tournament was held simultaneously with the dodgeball event. Seven teams competed, and the trio of crafty veterans known as “Cookies N Cream” emerged as victors. They crawled out of the losers’ bracket and were forced to defeat a talented Hillsboro squad twice in the final to win the 1st place giant cookie and other prizes. Thanks go to Joe Davis and Marvin Walls for helping officiate the 3 on 3 tourney.

3rd Place: NBA Jam

All proceeds from this years’ Slamdown benefitted the CCSA, CCYC and the YMCA. We are all organizations that are committed to providing the youth of Clinton County positive programs, experiences, and events. Collaborative events like these are vital to the success of our non-profit projects and for providing a bright future for Wilmington and Clinton County! Thanks to all who participated!
